Hirundo is the latin name of the genus for the swallows. Hirundo is also the name of my first glider model and .hirundo is a generative art installation.

.the concept

Every year I’m amazed by the chaotic flight of this tiny birds in the sky of my city and I always tried to catch a form in their movements. With .hirundo I would like to convert the chaotic flight into coloured patterns. Beside the visual creation the flight activates the reading of Dante’s Divina Commedia converted in Morse code. The installation starts the 21th of april (the day after I spotted the first swallow in the city sky) and it will end when the last swallow will fly away.

The whole installation can be followed on this site day by day (hirundo.fluido.tv) an it will be live streamed on YouTube during daylight. Every day the final generated pattern will be uploaded to Instagram and published on the website with the last tercet of the day.
